The Buddha lived more than 2,500 years ago and his enlightenment has illuminated art across Asia as it has been transmitted from culture to culture.

This tour follows Buddhism from its beginnings in northern India across Asia to Southeast Asia, the Himalayas, China, Korea, and, eventually, Japan. We will examine the evolution of the Buddhist image as it moved from place to place encountering different social, cultural, political, and economic factors. Tours assemble at the Information Desk in South Court.
