  • Teacher Workshops Speaking to the Filipino American Experience: A Workshop for Secondary Educators

    Explore the art and history of the Philippines with a focus on stories of perseverance and resistance. Renato Ciria-Cruz will address issues of immigration from the 1890s to today. Cecilia Gaerlan, executive director of the Bataan Legacy Historical Society, will introduce the Bataan Death March, which is now part of the California History-Social Science Curriculum Framework.  

    This workshop is free and includes a $150 stipend, resource packet, tour of Philippine Art: Collecting Art, Collecting Memories, breakfast and lunch. This workshop is presented by the National Park Service, Bataan Legacy Historical Society, and Asian Art Museum. To receive an application packet, please contact
