Learn about Korea’s textile tradition of bojagi, or wrapping cloths, with artist Youngmin Lee. This two-part intensive course will teach you the basics of bojagi sewing techniques and guide you to create your own mosi (ramie) bojagi to take home. Jogakbo, patchwork bojagi, was historically made with remnants of fabrics from leftover cloths. Ssamsol is a special seam technique that makes the front and back of the cloth identical. We will use many small pieces of ramie fabrics to make a geometrically patterned bojagi. Each finished project will have a unique composition of shapes, lines, and textures. All materials, a light lunch, and admission to the museum are included in the fee.
