  • Divine Bodies Presents: These Bodies Sing of Home

Evenings, Performances, and part of Divine Bodies Programs, Thursday Nights

    May 31

    Free with museum admission

    7—8:30 PM

    Samsung Hall

These Bodies Sing of Home is a celebration and invocation of home through poetry, dance and other forms of interdisciplinary performance art. A group of pan-Asian artists examines the familiarity and the strangeness that comes with the idea of home: the longing for a motherland, the search for peace in one’s own body or the way diaspora communities carry pieces of home wherever they go. How do queerness, immigration, (de)colonization and healing all contribute to the meaning of home?

Bar opens at 6 PM. Come early and mingle with the performers.

    PERFORMERS
    Hien Huynh
Opening the night with “if,” a dance and theater performance telling the story of his family’s emigration experience and history.

    Yasmin Kouchesfahani
Leading the community in a grounding meditation, followed by a poem and Zoroastrian prayer.

    Anju Kasturiraj
Performing excerpts from her book Songs for the Sun through a blend of poetry, theater, and altar building.

    Michelle Zhu
Accompanied by her synthesizer, will be performing two original songs and one cover on the theme of “home.”

    Five Feet Dance
