Join us for the premiere
screening of the documentary “Drawn
Together: Comics, Diversity and Stereotypes,” followed by a Q&A with
director Harleen Singh and featured artists Vishavjit Singh and Keith Knight. Vishavjit
Singh, as "Sikh Captain America," challenges the appearance of
conventional superheroes, while Knight reflects on African American stereotypes
and how he has battled racism at every step of his rewarding career. Against a
backdrop of superheroes and comic books, this film brings together three
artists who are challenging stereotypes and racism in modern America — it is
the first film that recounts experiences from Sikh, female and African American
perspectives. The film will make you think about the role that comic books play
in spreading some stereotypes in our society.
