    Join the Society for Art and Cultural Heritage of India (SACHI) for this special event with Shanay Jhaveri, assistant curator of South Asian modern and contemporary art at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. Jhaveri provides an overview of The Met’s recent South Asian acquisitions and exhibitions and brings into focus some of the larger intellectual issues and practical challenges around curating and collecting in the 21st century. A light reception follows. 
    Shanay Jhaveri has been assistant curator, South Asian, modern and contemporary art at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, since 2016. He is a graduate of Brown University and holds a Ph.D. from the Royal College of Art, London. His books include “Western Artists and India: Creative Inspirations in Art and Design” and “Outsider Films on India: 1950–1990” and he is a contributing editor at Frieze magazine. At The Met, Jhaveri has organized the 2018 roof commission, Huma Bhabha: We Come in PeaceRanjani Shettar: Seven ponds and a few raindrops; and the retrospective Phenomenal Nature: Mrinalini Mukherjee
