This exhibition was organized by the Art Institute of Chicago in collaboration with the Saint Louis Art Museum. Presentation at the Asian Art Museum is made possible by Carmen M. Beyond Golden Clouds was curated by the Art Institute of Chicago’s Janice Katz together with the Saint Louis Art Museum’s Philip K. Hu, and is accompanied by a fully illustrated catalogue. The Asian Art Museum’s presentation will include new approaches to the exhibition, among them a layperson’s introduction to the fundamental compositions, materials, formats, and subjects of traditional folding screens as well as a selection of self-guided thematic tours for visitors at every level of expertise and interest.
