FREE Family Fun Day: Who Wants To Be a King/Queen?
Sunday, October 23, 10:30–4:30 pm
FREE admission for all courtesy of Kumar Malavalli. All ages.
Become a maharaja or maharani (king or queen) at this fun-filled event that has something for the whole family to enjoy. Become an art explorer while searching the galleries for symbols from India's royal courts; hear stories that bring the art to life; dress like royalty and have your picture taken; eat ice cream; listen to a family of sitar players play music and make art projects inspired by kings!

Family Fun Activity: Paint
Saturday, November 12, 10:30 am–12:00 noon
FREE with museum admission; suggested for families with children ages 7-10.
Families learn to make South Asian style paintings together with New York artist Talha Rathore. This intimate setting allows budding artists an opportunity to explore traditional painting techniques.

Thursday, December 29, 1:00–3:00 pm
FREE with museum admission; suggested for families with children ages 11-15.
Hip hop, funk, and reggae songs are the soundtracks for Bhangra, a type of popular dance combining Punjabi folk traditions with Western pop music. Learn to dance like a Bollywood star in this workshop for tweens.
Stories! The Wicked, the Wily and the Wise

Art comes to life in this storytelling program featuring myths and folktales from across Asia.
Art Explorers' Maharaja Family Tour
Every Saturday, November 5 through April 7, 11:00 and 1:00 pm (30 minutes)

Suggested for families with children ages 5-7.
Join a docent on a search for power symbols in the special exhibition Maharaja: The Splendor of India's Royal Courts and engage your kids in looking at and talking about art.
