Season's greetings and happy holidays!
Thank you for your tremendous support during the past year. 2013 marked our 10th anniversary at Civic Center Plaza. We celebrated by offering exhibitions and programs that only we can do. This included the spectacularly successful China’s Terracotta Warriors: The First Emperor’s Legacy, which attracted nearly 240,000 visitors and critical acclaim.
In the Moment:Japanese Art from the Larry Ellison Collection drew rave reviews for its innovative presentation. Through our inventive school programs, underwritten by the support of individuals like you, we brought more than 30,000 school children to see our magnificent exhibitions, free of charge. This fall, we opened In Grand Style: Celebrations in Korean Art during the Joseon Dynasty, a fitting show to complete our anniversary year.
Our dynamic lineup of exhibitions continues in 2014 with Yoga: The Art of Transformation in February. June brings us Gorgeous, which will feature masterworks from the Asian Art Museum and the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art in provocative and stimulating new contexts.
Today I ask for your continued support in 2014. Our robust schedule of exhibitions and enhanced public programs, from artist demonstrations and live performances to school tours and enriched multimedia experiences, need your financial support to thrive.
Before 2013 comes to a close, please consider making an end-of-year gift to the Asian Art Museum. Donate online today.
Your tax-deductible donation will ensure we continue to serve audiences throughout the Bay Area and beyond. Thank you for being a part of the Asian Art Museum family.
Best wishes, Jay Xu, PhD Director
