An empire made of clay, mirroring a ruler’s living realm; archaeological riches telling a story too fantastic to be true; a place in heaven secured by a considerable show of wealth and might.
This spring, the Asian Art Museum Store is home
to a small imperial army—one you can take home with you.
The splendor of the Qin Emperor’s tomb has long transfixed the world, in both its scale and detail. From February until late May, visitors can expect to find generals, archers, and infantry, all crafted from the Xi’an clay of the originals. Prefer a modern army? Bright red soldiers are a colorful antidote to traditional gray. Want something with a bit of age? Coins dating back to the Tang, Song, and Qing Dynasties are a great way to take home a piece of history.
In addition to the usual complement of exhibition-specific books and objects, we’ll have a few surprises in store (hint: it’s huggable and plush and comes from our collection).
Member discounts still apply, and you’ll see a small sampling of what can be found in the Museum Store.
All purchases support the museum’s educational programs and exhibitions as well as the individual artists and their communities.
A few examples of what you’ll find in the museum store include ceramics, basketry, textiles, jewelry, paintings and wood-block prints, sculpture, furniture, books and media.
The store is open during regular museum hours and does not require paid admission.
